Rare isn’t doing so hot these days… after the acquisition by Microsoft and the departure of the Stamper brothers, the company has fought an uphill battle for relevance for years.  Grabbed by the Ghoulies was a disaster of Hindenburg proportions, the polished Xbox remake of Conker’s Bad Fur Day was met with indifference from the very audience for which it was created, and Perfect Dark Zero has aged badly next to the dozens of other first person shooters on the Xbox 360.  Now, what’s left of Rare is stuck working on projects intended to reproduce the success of its former owner Nintendo… with questionable results.

Sony answered the wishes of many gamers when they re-released the two PlayStation 2 God of War games on PlayStation 3. It now looks like God of War might not be the only series of PS2 games to be given the HD treatment on PS3, if a survey question from Sony is any indication.

EA Sports has gone ahead and renamed its NBA Live franchise, and now it's unveiled its new Wii-exclusive hockey game, NHL Slapshot. Bearing the likeness of NHL legend Wayne Gretzky, Slapshot includes a miniature hockey stick peripheral that will hold both the Wii remote and nunchuk while you use the stick to emulate hockey movements like wrist shots, slap shots, and poke checks.

The Blue Bomber saddled up his "Rush Roadster" and took to the kart tracks with his friends and enemies. Good times and low polygon counts ensued.
